Memorial Ministry is pleased to announce that Morgan Goodyear has been awarded a $500 higher education 2017 scholarship. Morgan, a June 2017 Richland Center High School (RCHS) graduate, will be attending Southwest Wisconsin Technical College (SWTC) in August 2017 within the Nursing/Associate Degree program.
Morgan will be continuing her nursing education, as she completed her Certified Nursing Assistant training from SWTC in June 2016 and is currently employed at Schmitt Woodland Hills. Morgan has been involved in band & choir while attending RCHS, as well as Dance Elite and the Career Education Cooperative.
Memorial Ministry Chair Paul Murphey reports, “While a three-week Schmitt Woodland Hills resident myself in August 2016, I witnessed Morgan’s nursing ability up close & personal! She has a rare gift for geriatric care, and I am very pleased that she has decided to continue her nursing education. I am even more pleased that Trinity has so many supportive members, friends, & families that allow us to continue our scholarship program so that we can assist Morgan with her financial obligations.”
When schedules can be coordinated, Trinity will recognize, during a designated Sunday service, not only Morgan’s scholarship but also her high school graduation.
The Trinity UMC scholarship is partially funded in memory of Wayne Braithwaite, Jerry Cooper, Nancy Edwards, Hilda Heidenreich, Eloise Herbeck, Roger Jewell, James & Lucille Johnston, Ralph & Helen Monteith, and Eleanor Strang.
Congratulations, Morgan! As you enter this next chapter of your life, our prayer to you comes from Proverbs 18:15: “The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.” (NIV)
