The first of this year marked the continuance of a journey toward a new beginning for 3 Trinity youths. Their journey began with baptism. “Baptism is a sacrament in which, “God uses common elements – in this case, water – as means or vehicles of divine grace. Baptism is administered by the church as the Body of Christ. It is the act of God through the grace of Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit.” This step is usually, but not always, accomplished in childhood. At that time, the parents make the covenant with the church body for the child.
The second step is Confirmation. This portion of the journey generally happens at the beginning of adolescence but may occur at any time through adulthood. The three confirmation candidates have spent approximately eighteen weeks learning about the beliefs of the United Methodist Church. The candidates have written Statements of Faith. These will be shared with the congregation on Confirmation Sunday. The youth have made the decision to confirm their Faith through Confirmation. During this ceremony, the candidates will remember their Baptism, profess their Faith and become members of the church body. Confirmation Sunday will take place on September 25th at the 9:s0 am service.
