Trinity Harvest Auction Set for Tuesday, October 16th

Back-to-school sales are in full swing, which means that it’s time to start thinking about our annual Harvest Auction. The evening promotes a spirit of community while raising funds to support our covenant missionaries.**

This year’s auction will be held on Tuesday, October 16th in Schmitt Hall. Fellowship will begin at 6:00 P.M. with pot luck snacks and finger foods rather than a full pot luck meal. The Missions’ Committee will provide table service and beverages. Socialize with friends while looking over auction items and planning your bidding strategy! Auctioneer Kurt Monson will begin the auction at 7:00 P.M. You can look forward to good-natured, spirited bidding and lots of laughs as Kurt moves things right along.

For the convenience of parents with young children, child care will be available from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M.

The Missions Committee is requesting donations to the annual Harvest Auction to be held on Tuesday, October 16th. A wide variety of items makes the auction more interesting. There are many possibilities which may include, but are not limited to the following: Garden/orchard produce; many types of homemade food items that are fresh, frozen, baked, canned, etc.,; hand crafted items that are sewn, quilted, knitted, crocheted; home décor, including seasonal and holiday items; potted plants/herbs; specialty baskets; outdoor gear; toys; tools; games; puzzles, art work; woodwork–the possibilities are endless.

There are certificates available for those who wish to donate a service such as a meal, a special occasion cake, baby sitting, yard raking, a monthly pan of bars, etc. Be creative! Certificates are located on the Missions bulletin board in the narthex and will also be available the evening of the auction. We ask that donated items be clean and either new or gently used. PLEASE—NO OLD OR OUTDATED COMPUTER HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE, AND NO LARGE EXERCISE EQUIPMENT. If there are any items not sold, they will be donated to the Thrift Shop.

Items may be brought the evening of the auction, especially food items or perishables. Non-perishables may be placed in the downstairs room across from the choir room. PLEASE LABEL SUCH DONATIONS “HARVEST AUCTION,” AS OTHER THINGS ARE STORED IN THIS ROOM.

Gentle readers, we do not wish to offend.  However, please note that the Harvest Auction is not a rummage sale. Donations of new or very gently used items are encouraged.  PLEASE—NO OLD OR OUTDATED COMPUTER HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE, AND NO LARGE EXERCISE EQUIPMENT.  In the past, compassionate attendees have bid on items they would otherwise not have purchased in order to avoid possible hurt feelings if a donor’s items don’t elicit bids. We hope to avoid that situation if donors will keep these donation guidelines in mind.
